Boonton Police Pursuit Ends In Newark Crash: Two Caught, Gun Reportedly Waved Out Window

Two people were in custody and one remained at large after a winding, pre-dawn Boonton pursuit Sunday ended in a crash in Newark, authorities said.

Three occupants bailed out after the Toyota Camry with New York license plates crashed at the intersection of Springfield Avenue and Jacob Street, responders said.

The pursuit first went through several towns to Hillside and then back north through several streets into Newark, responders said.

Three occupants bailed out after the Toyota Camry with New York license plates crashed at the intersection of Springfield Avenue and Jacob Street around 2:20 a.m., they said.

Two were caught soon after.

Someone in the vehicle waved a gun out a window during the chase, Police Chief Michael Danyo said.

Responders included Essex County sheriff's officers.
