Two Injured In Tractor Trailer Crash On Route 78:

Two people were injured after two truck collided in Route 78 in Hunterdon County on the morning of Monday, Oct. 21, authorities said. At 7:03 a.m., a USPS truck lost control on Route 78 West in Bethlehem Township and truck another truck hauling carbonated drinks, subsequently veering off the roadway and crashing into a guardrail, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. Both drivers sustained minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital, Lebron said. The crash remains under investigation, Lebron said.

A 27-year-old Denville man was arrested and charged after he struck a police officer while fleeing on Sunday, Oct. 20, authorities said. While officers were conducting a traffic stop on Indian Road, it was discovered the driver, Liam Harrigan, had an active NCIC Warrant out of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office, Denville police said. Police in Tenafly have released details in the crash that killed a 23-year-old sanitation worker from North Arlington Monday morning, Oct. 21. The garbage truck was parked along the northbound curb of County Road when the vehicle was struck by a northbound tractor-trailer just before 7 a.m., Tenafly Police Capt. Michael deMoncada said. A 21-year-old Sussex County man had to be airlifted to a hospital after an ATV crash on the evening of Saturday, Oct. 19, authorities said. At 10:57 p.m., police responded to a property on East Shore Culver Road in Frankford Township after a Honda Fortrax ATV entered the roadway, lost directional control and the driver fell from the vehicle, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. The driver, a Branchville resident, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital, LeBron said. The crash remains under investigation, Lebron said.

Authorities have released details and identified the man killed by police on Saturday, Oct. 19in Burlington County. Officers responding to smoke coming from a Pemberton home on Woodland Avenue around 3:20 p.m., New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin said. The bodies of two severely burned girls ages 6 and 8 were found at a Newark home following a fire over the weekend, officials said. Witnesses told detectives that there had been a birthday party for one of the girls on the second floor of the home and they'd been playing with fire near a couch in the hallway of the Eckert Street home on Saturday, Oct. 20, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. The 69-year-old former chief of the Bergen County Sheriff's Department and now-private investigator has been arrested on child pornography charges, authorities said. Stephen Bojekian was charged after a search of his Franklin Lakes home on Thursday, Oct. 17, according to Bergen County Mark Musella.
