Johnny Juica-Pena was charged with with harassment, assault and bias intimidation following an altercation Friday night on the Morris & Essex line at Morristown, NJ Transit spokesman Jim Smith said.

Keith Brown of Morris Plains recalled the incident in an interview with News12.

Brown had been on the train from Newark for about 20 minutes when Juica-Pena walked over and asked if someone was in the bathroom, he said.

When Brown couldn't answer, Juica-Pena shouted racial slurs and religious slurs at him, then punched him, according to the News12 report.

"I'm angry," Brown said in the interview. "I'm real upset. He punched me in the face for no reason and I'm hurt behind it -- I'm angry behind it."

NJ Transit is investigating.
