A devoted mother, her greatest joy was her son, Evan Reyes, whom she supported, encouraged, and cheered on every step of the way, according to her obituary on the Vander Plaat Funeral Home website. Teacher's Aide Taped Boy To Desk For 50 Minutes, Teacher Did Nothing In Passaic County: Cops
A teacher and a teacher's aide are facing charges in Passaic County for taping a child to a desk for nearly one hour, authorities said.
Todd Lewis, 57, of Wayne, a teacher's aide placed masking tape around the back of the 9-year-old boy's neck and secured it to the desk, where the child remained for approximately 40 to 50 minutes, while Sallyann Scala, 67, of Pompton Lakes, continued teaching at Lenox Elementary School on Oct. 31, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said.

Newark Teacher Dies Days After Being Struck By Vehicle Outside High School: Authorities
A 66-year-old Newark teacher died Saturday, Oct. 26, after being struck by a vehicle at Arts High School on Wednesday, Oct. 23, authorities said.
At 10:39 a.m., police responded to the 500 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard on a call of two pedestrians struck, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said.
Police found two women, one of whom was Laura Cuevas, struck in the aftermath of a two-car crash that saw one vehicle striking a wall at Arts High School, Fragé said. Cuevas was pinned against the exterior wall of the building, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said.
