Man Fatally Shot In Newark: Prosecutors
A man was fatally shot in Newark on the evening of Tuesday, July 2, authorities said. At 9:30 p.m., police responded to the 200 block of Park Avenue and found an unresponsive male suffering from a gunshot wound, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Frage said. The mugshot of a 34-year-old murder suspect arrested in a New Jersey shooting that rattled a small town has been released. Anthony Garvin, of Netcong, was charged with murder and possession of a firearm and lodged in the Berks County Jail in Leesport, PA, a spokesperson for the Warren County Prosecutor's Office said following the Thursday, June 28 incident. Man Shot In East Orange, Police Say
A 24-year-old East Orange man was shot on the evening of Monday, June 24, authorities said. At 7:25 p.m., officers responded to 210 S. Burnet Street and found the man shot in the right ankle, East Orange police said. He was treated and released from University Hospital, police said. Police are looking for four suspects who were wearing masks and fled the scene in a white Mercedes Benz sedan, officers said. The shooting remains under investigation, police said. A 30-year-old Newark woman whose 5-year-old son shot and killed his 4-year-old brother, has been convicted in the 2022 murder of a man, authorities said. Itiyanah Spruill was convicted of murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the fatal shooting of Lance Sally, Jr. in Nov. 2022, following a two-week trial, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II said. Man Shot In Newark: Police
A man was shot in Newark on the evening of Saturday, June 16, authorities said. At 7:33 p.m., officers responded to Van Vechten Street near Hanford Street and found a man who had been shot, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. A 25-year-old Newark resident has been identified as the victim in a fatal shooting on Thursday June 13, authorities said. At 9 p.m., Newark police responded to Boys Park at Sussex Avenue and Duryea Street and located Raymeer Tarver suffering from gunshot wounds near a basketball court in the park, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Frage said. Tarver was taken to University Hospital and pronounced dead soon after, Stephens and Frage said. UPDATE: A man wanted for questioning in a New York City shooting pulled out a gun in the lobby of a Woodbridge hotel and was killed in a shootout with police, authorities said.
