A Long Branch woman was accused of using her former employer's credit card to buy herself more than $80,000 in items, authorities said. Nadine Hurd, 37, was charged with second-degree theft by unlawful taking, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago said in a news release on Monday, Sept. 30. Investigators said Hurd spent more than $80,000 between 2018 and 2023 while working as the customer service and inventory manager for an unnamed manufacturing company in Wall Township. Thieves Steal From Luxury Fashion Store's New Shop Along Jersey Shore, Police Say
Thieves broke into a luxury fashion store in Margate two months after it opened for business, authorities said. Margate City police responded to an alarm at Caroline's Fashion Luxuries on Ventnor Avenue at around 2:40 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9, the department said in a news release. Several 911 calls were also made after witnesses saw the suspects break the store's glass window. Sixteen people from eight different families were displaced and five responders were injured by a fire that swept through Somerville's downtown on Tuesday, June 4, officials said. Firefighters responded to West Main Street for the four-alarm blaze just after 2:30 p.m., the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office said. A Somerville police officer and four firefighters suffered minor injuries, officials said. Everyone injured was released from a nearby hospital, authorities said.
