Dozens Displaced By 3-Alarm Fire That Tore Through Edison Apartment Complex: Mayor

A fast-moving three-alarm fire ripped through an Edison apartment complex on Sunday, March 30, leaving two people injured and dozens displaced, officials said.

The blaze broke out on Vista Drive, just off Woodbridge Avenue, where a total of 36 units were impacted, according to Edison Mayor Sam Joshi. Eight units were completely destroyed, while another eight sustained significant damage.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene around [insert time if available], where 13 engines, 4 ladder trucks, and 2 rescue vehicles battled the flames.

Two residents suffered smoke inhalation and minor burns, Joshi said in a statement. Their conditions were not immediately disclosed.

The Office of Emergency Management is coordinating with the Red Cross to help displaced residents, the mayor said.

The fire is under investigation, but at this time it is not considered suspicious, according to authorities.
