DUI Driver Seriously Injures Family Thanksgiving Morning On Route 1, Prosecutor Says A 31-year-old DUI driver is facing multiple charges in a crash that left a family and a teenager seriously injured in Edison, police said. Alyssa Figueredo, 31, of Cranford, drove through a red light around 1:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 28 on Route 1 north at Parsonage Road in Edison, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Edison Police Chief Thomas Bryan said. Edison Police Lieutenant Dies The Edison Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its lieutenants. The department announced the death of Lt. Donald Ship on Wednesday, July 10. A cause of death was not provided. Ship launched his career in law enforcement as an officer at Kean University before transferring to EPD in January 2011. He was assigned to the patrol bureau "where he was an officer his squad mates could rely on, and he was a field training officer to new hires," his department said. Dispatchers Save Abducted Woman, Driver Arrested For Kidnapping At GWB, Cops Say Cool-headed police dispatchers from Edison Township are being credited with helping a woman abducted during a domestic dispute. Port Authority police later charged 39-year-old Chukwuebu D Emegoakor with kidnapping, criminal restraint, false imprisonment, terroristic threats and other offenses. The woman who was abducted called 911 at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, and was patched through to Edison dispatchers, police said.  Dispatchers kept the woman on the phone as the man drove toward New York City, with Edison police sending alerts to other departments, according to Edison…
