A 43-year-old man has been convicted of kidnapping an ex-romantic partner, bound him with duct tape, strangled him and forced him to take sleeping pills with alcohol — just hours after being released from jail, authorities in Essex County said.
The jury remained deadlocked on the charge of attempted murder against James Pilotti, 43, of Union City, who was ultimately convicted of several other charges including strangulation on a domestic violence victim, weapon offenses, assault and more, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. A South Jersey man shot his cousin during an argument, then drove him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead over the weekend, authorities said.
Antwian Warthen, 29, apparently shot Horace Warthen at his home on the 400 block of Garden Avenue in Pemberton on Friday around 9:15 p.m., Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina and Pemberton Township Police Chief David King said.
Antwian then drove Horace, of Brown Mills, to Capital Health at Deborah, where he was pronounced dead by a physician, authorities said.

Prosecutor: Toms River Woman Stabs Ex-Boyfriend To Death
A Toms River woman was arrested after stabbing her ex-boyfriend to death early Saturday, Oct. 24, authorities said.
Samantha Massimino, 33, of Toms River, was charged with aggravated manslaughter and several weapons offenses in the death of Reinaldo Feliciano, Jr., 35, also of Toms River, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer and Toms River Township Police Chief Mitch Little said.

Paterson police working a "hotspot" detail in a crime-ridden neighborhood seized a high-powered handgun favored by criminals after catching an Irvington man with a half-pound of pot, authorities said Wednesday.
