A fifth person has been arrested in the violent home invasion that killed a Cumberland County detective, authorities said.
Byron Thomas of Paulsboro was charged with two counts of first-degree murder among other offenses, the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office said in a news release on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Sgt. Jemell Carter, 39, was stopped by the investigators on Summer and Fulton streets in Paterson following a drug deal on Jackson Avenue in Woodland Park on Tuesday, April 19, Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik said.

Ameer Harris, aka “A Dot,” 29, of New Brunswick, was arrested in connection with the May 18, 2019 shooting of David D. Anderson, 30, of Franklin Township, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said in a joint release.

Passaic police investigating a stabbing robbery outside a local club busted seven purported gang members, seizing several weapons, authorities said.
