High Winds Wreak Havoc In NJ Leaving Roads Closed, Hundreds Without Power
Wind gusts up to 50 mph were wreaking havoc across New Jersey on Friday, Aug. 9. As of 2:30 p.m., thousands of residents were without power and multiple roadways were closed due to downed wires and related crashes. More than 60 people have been arrested in connection with a protest that completely shutdown I-676 in Philadelphia on Saturday afternoon, March 30, authorities said. Six people were hospitalized when a tractor-trailer overturned onto several vehicles in Warren County Monday, Aug. 14, police said. The Allentown-bound truck was cut off by another vehicle on Rt. 22 at St. James Avenue just before 12:50 p.m. in Pohatcong, local police said. The other vehicle collided with the truck and caused the truck to swerve off the road. The truck went off Rt. 22 and onto St. James Avenue where it crashed into three other cars and rolled over onto its side. Box Truck Being Towed Tips Beneath Route 80 Overpass
A box truck tipped while being towed beneath a Route 80 overpass in Elmwood Park, jamming area traffic early Friday afternoon. Another tow was needed to straighten and remove the truck owned by Salerno's Custom Cabinetry in Saddle Brook from the corner of River Road and Market Street shortly after 1 p.m. No injuries were reported. A driver who was killed in a chain-reaction crash on Route 3 was identified as a 46-year-old Kearny resident. A BMW X3 had become disabled and was stopped on the westbound Passaic River Bridge in Clifton when it was struck by a Subaru Impreza driven by Karen Garcia shortly before 5 a.m. last Thursday, Dec. 15. A driver was rescued and taken to a nearby hospital after a U-Haul overturned and scattered debris across Route 80 Thursday morning, authorities said. A car carrier loaded with hybrids caught fire, causing some major morning headaches on northbound Route 17. Special foam was needed to help extinguish the blaze, which apparently broke out in the brake system and spread early Wednesday, Sept. 28, Saddle River Police Chief Jason Cosgriff said. Serious Crash Causes Major Delays In Bethlehem: Police
Bethlehem Police are investigating a serious crash that shut down several local streets. The crash occurred on E. 4th Street at Emery Street during the afternoon on Thursday, June 9, police said. Westbound traffic was being detoured at Shimersville Rd. during the investigation, which is expected to last for several hours, the department said. The state Department of Transportation has begun work on replacing four bridges on I-78 in Bridgewater and Bedminster, a project that will take place in stages over the next three years in order to minimize traffic disruption, the agency said in a statement. Police in Newark have released images of a truck that leaked a lengthy stream of cooking oil Tuesday, causing huge traffic headaches shortly before rush hour. The spill happened around 3:40 p.m. on Stockton, Delancy, Adams and Thomas streets and Wilson Avenue, all in the city's Ironbound section.
