Mets Claim Bergen County Pitcher Kevin Herget
Kevin Herget will be pitching a stone's throw away from his home state next season. The Mets signed the 33-year-old Park Ridge native off waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers, the MLB confirmed Monday, Nov. 4. The Kean University Hall of Famer was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 39th round of the 2013 MLB Draft. Herget made his MLB debut in 2022 with the Tampa Bay Rays. He played for the Cincinnati Reds and then the Brewers. It’s official: The New York Yankees are adding the Somerset Patriots and Hudson Valley Renegades while dropping the Trenton Thunder and Staten Island Yankees. The Pats, who play at TD Ballpark in Bridgewater, will be the Bronx Bombers’ new Double-A affiliate and the Renegades, who play at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill, the new Single-A affiliate, Baseball America reported Friday. Subway Series Opener Postponed After Mets Player, Staffer Tested Positive For COVID
The first game of this weekend's Subway Series was postponed, along with the New York Mets' game Thursday night in Miami against the Marlins, after at least two people in the Mets organization tested positive for the coronavirus, Major League Baseball announced. The Mets were trying Thursday night for a four-game sweep against the Marlins before returning home Friday to face the Yankees in a three-game series at CitiField.
