Thanksgiving Crash Kills Former NJ Hockey Captain Gavin Barooah, 19 The victim killed in a Morris County crash on Thanksgiving Night, Nov. 28 has been identified as a 19-year-old former hockey player. Gavin Barooah, of Ledgewood, was behind the wheel of a Mercedes Benz when his vehicle collided with a Jeep around 8 p.m. at Morris and Sussex turnpikes in Randolph, according to Meghan Knab, a spokesperson for the county prosecutor's office. Police have released surveillance photos of four suspects they say broke into a Morris County smoke shop and stole around $6,000 worth of goods on the same night another smoke shop was broken into just a few miles away. The suspects pictured above broke into Stardust Smokeshop on the Sussex Turnpike in Randolph around 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13, according to a Facebook post from Randolph PBA. SEE Anything? Morris County Sheriff Seeks Info On Pedestrian Hit-And-Run The Morris County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information after a pedestrian was struck by a hit-and-run driver last week. The vehicle — believed to be a red or silver mid-sized SUV similar to a Ford Explorer — struck the victim near Sussex Turnpike and Musiker Avenue in Randolph just after 9:50 p.m. on Monday, May 17, Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll said in a joint release with Sheriff James M. Gannon and Randolph Township Police.
