Massive Hotel Proposed To Replace Shuttered Jersey Shore Amusement Park: Reports
A developer is planning to bring a new purpose to a shuttered and iconic amusement park on the Ocean City boardwalk, according to reports. Wonderland Pier owner Eustace Mita said he wants to create a 252-room hotel on the site of the theme park that closed in October, abc6 Action News reported. Mita is also the developer and CEO of ICONA Resorts. The $135 to $155 million proposal would preserve Wonderland's famous Ferris wheel and carousel. High Bacteria Closes Pair Of NJ State Parks' Swimming Beaches
Poor water quality has led to the closure of two state parks' swimming beaches, officials said. High levels of bacteria were detected in the water, state Department of Environmental Protection officials said. Swimmers are not allowed in the water at Round Valley Recreation Area in Lebanon, Hunterdon County, and Lake Nummy in Belleplain State Forest, which spans Atlantic, Cape May and Cumberland counties, DEP spokesman Larry Hajna said on Monday, Aug. 29.

Fire At Closter Waste Management Company Sends Employee To Hospital
A pre-dawn fire at a waste management facility in Closter sent an employee to the hospital for observation, responders said. The fire broke out in the Interstate Waste Services transfer station garbage bays on Railroad Avenue shortly after 4 a.m. Thursday, Detective Lt. Vincent Aiello said. Two employees tried to extinguish the blaze with a fire hose before firefighters took over, he said. One of the employees was brought to Hackensack Meridian Health's Pascack Valley Medical Center in Westwood with smoke inhalation, Aiello said. State parks and golf courses can reopen this weekend, Gov. Phil Murphy said on Wednesday. Parks were closed statewide on April 7 to curb the spread of coronavirus.
