A South Jersey pizzeria named one of the state's best by several outlets got a visit from Barstool Sports CEO Dave Portnoy. "I mean it's good, I would never complain about it," Portnoy said after sampling the square pie from Brooklyn Original in Haddon Heights. He rated it a 7.3 Despite the shop boasting its famous square pie, customers said the CEO actually got the "wrong one." Portnoy tried two other styles, which he also gave similar ratings. US Marshals Nab Philly Man In NJ Motel Strangling, Stabbing: Prosecutor
A 26-year-old Philadelphia man has been arrested for strangling and stabbing a woman inside a South Jersey motel, authorities said. Alexander Rivera, of the 6300 block of Cardiff Street in the Mayfair section of the city, was taken into custody without incident at his home on Friday Nov. 4 by the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force. Five daycare workers in South Jersey have been arrested on accusations they abused children their care — sometimes by force-feeding or aggressively restraining them, according to authorities and various news reports citing police papers. Two women caught trafficking meth through South Jersey took plea deals rather than risk federal prosecution, authorities said. Sherri Craig, 42, of Clementon, New Jersey, and Shannon Foster, 27, of Egg Harbor City, formally agreed on Thursday, Oct. 13, to mandatory five-year minimum sentences -- and possibly more time. A 63-year-old employee was found dead in a kettle cooker at a South Jersey food processing plant early this week authorities said. Millville's Dale R. Devilli was found in the cooker on Parsonage Road in Upper Deerfield around 8 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, New Jersey State Police said. The incident was not considered suspicious. A 76-year-old convicted South Jersey sex offender is looking at a minimum 10-year federal prison sentence after admitting that he collected hundreds of child porn photos and videos, authorities said. An 80-year-old woman told police her 65-year-old daughter from South Jersey beat her with a broomstick three days before she died of her injuries in the attack, NJ Advance Media reports.
