Flooding Shuts Roads Across New Jersey: Here's Where
Flooding and heavy rain closed roads across New Jersey Saturday, March 23. According to the National Weather Service, the heaviest part of the storm may have passed. The flooding, however, has not. In Hasbrouck Heights, where Route 17 was closed, police pulled multiple drivers from their vehicles, Chief Rinke said. Members spent the past several hours rescuing over 20 trapped motorists from their vehicles in Heights and throughout Teterboro. UPDATE: A 21-year-old driver who rolled his Charger on Route 17 in Hasbrouck Heights was hospitalized and given a summons, authorities said. Northbound Route 17 was closed from Moonachie Avenue for about two hours after the Dodge and a BMW M34 collided just south of Franklin Avenue at 10:10 p.m. Thursday, May 18, Police Lt. Shock and sorrow spread through Haledon and beyond on Sunday with word that the school district’s beloved head custodian and his wife were killed in a horrific crash hours earlier. Responders tried in vain to revive Corrado LaRosa, the director of physical plant and custodial services, and his wife, Tina LaRosa, following the crash near the corner of Belmont Avenue and John Street minutes before midnight.
