Scott Bartlett, Navy Veteran, Sussex County First Responder, Dies At 49 Scott Bartlett, who spent many years in Vernon volunteering as a first responder, died on Friday, Dec. 29 at the age of 49 in Honolulu, according to his obituary on the Pinkel Funeral Home website. Barlett was born in Ridgewood and moved to Vernon, his obituary reads. He served in the Navy from 1993 to 1997 as a disaster recovery specialist, according to his obituary. Angel Caraballo-Maldona, 45, was sentenced on Friday, Oct. 27 to four years in New Jersey State Prison and must serve 85 percent before parole eligibility, Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll said in a joint release on Monday, Oct. 30.
