Chemical Extinguisher Helps At Northvale Machine Shop Fire
Firefighters used a high-volume dry chemical extinguisher to help with a machine shop blaze in Northvale. The Livingston Street fire ignited shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday, May 16. The Paramus Fire Department’s Foam Unit provided a significant assist extinguishing flames on aluminum shavings that were placed in metal barrels and brought outside. Crews remained at the scene until about 7:30 p.m. Firefighters who went into the building were sent to a decon station due to burning metals and materials. Paramus Garage Fire Doused
Paramus firefighters made quick work of a detached garage blaze early Saturday afternoon. The smoky, two-alarm fire ignited in the attic area of the two-car garage on Broad Avenue off North Fairview Avenue near Route 17 around 12:30 p.m. Oct. 14. Firefighters cut their way in and had the blaze knocked in under a half hour. No injuries were reported. The Paramus Police Emergency Services unit responded with borough firefighters. No one was seriously injured when a wagon driven by an 83-year-old local driver slammed into a Paramus nail salon Tuesday afternoon. Vehicles that hit storefronts ordinarily don't make it in very far. No injuries were reported following a rollover crash on northbound Route 17 in Paramus. A Nissan Murano landed right-side-up after colliding with a Chevy Suburban livery vehicle that careened off the highway and came to rest between the side of a nail salon and a roll-off trash bin during Tuesday morning's rush hour. Nearly three dozen mutual aid companies and well over 100 firefighters helped counter a lack of area hydrants as a fast-moving blaze consumed an Upper Saddle River mansion at the Rockland County border over the weekend. Firefighters Douse Fair Lawn House Blaze
Firefighters quickly stopped a Wednesday afternoon blaze from doing serious damage to the interior of a Fair Lawn home. The two-alarm fire severely damaged the front of the 32nd Street residence just off southbound Route 208. A funeral Mass is scheduled Tuesday for a beloved Bergen County firefighter who died this weekend. Timothy “Timmy” Rice, 42, of Emerson fought a valiant battle with cancer, supported by legions of loved ones, friends and fellow firefighters. Firefighters doused a Paramus house blaze on Tuesday. The smoky fire apparently broke out in an attached garage and extended into the attic of the Behnke Avenue home shortly after 11 a.m. Firefighters had the bulk of the two-alarm blaze knocked down within 45 minutes. Prosecutor: Boy, 16, Made Hackensack, Paramus School Bomb Threats
A 16-year-old boy called in several bogus threats of bombs at schools in Hackensack and Paramus last week, said authorities who took him into custody. The boy blocked his caller ID to place six calls to several area police apartments last Thursday and Friday, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. The bogus theats brought Paramus and Hackensack police and firefighters, a Bergen County Regional SWAT team and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Bomb Squad to the sites, he said.
