UPDATE (June 22): Bergen County prosecutor’s detectives seized a repeat offender from Elmwood Park who they said shot a 26-year-old Jersey City man several times in a Garfield shopping center parking lot this past weekend. Joshua Casiano, 29, was already wanted on warrants out of Passaic and Clifton, records show, when investigators said he shot the victim and left him behind the Citizens Bank branch at the Mill Shoppes of Garfield just off River Drive late Sunday, June 18. A 26-year-old real estate agent from Paterson was driving the hit-and-run sedan that struck and killed a Garfield mother of five outside her home, authorities confirmed. Victor E. UPDATE: A Clifton police officer escaped serious injury after his SUV went airborne and rolled into a utility pole in Garfield, snapping it from its base, during a late-night pursuit, authorities said. The officer tried stopping a motorist on Ackermann Avenue near Route 21 for careless driving shortly before 11 p.m. Wednesday, Detective Lt. Robert Bracken said. Saddle Brook Man, 71, Struck, Killed By Commuter Train In Garfield
A 71-year-old Saddle Brook man was struck and killed by a commuter train while crossing the tracks in Garfield Tuesday afternoon, responders and witnesses said. Midland Avenue was temporarily closed from Semel Avenue to Outwater Lane after the mishap occurred around 3:30 p.m. near the Plauderville Station.
