Whooping Cough Cases Are Spiking, CDC Warns
Cases of whooping cough are five times higher than at this time a year ago, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is warning. Officially known as pertussis, those infected have persistent, chronic fits of coughing followed by a “whoop” sound. Legionnaires' Disease Outbreak Probed In Bergen, Passaic Towns: Health Department
A potential outbreak of Legionnaires' Disease is being investigated in several adjacent towns in Bergen and Passaic County, the health department reports. A total of seven cases have been confirmed with one “suspected” case still being investigated, the New Jersey Department of Health said in a Thursday release. 19: NJ Nursing Home Where 62 People Died Reports 2 Positive Cases Among Staff
A pair of staff members at a New Jersey nursing home where more than 100 people died of COVID-19 tested positive for the virus -- and later tested negative, reports say. One staff member at New Jersey Memorial Veterans Home at Menlo Park tested positive Oct. 1 and the other Oct. 6, NorthJersey.com reports.
