A Ridgefield Park police officer tackled a borough man who attacked him and his colleagues with a block of wood after damaging a patrol car and several other parked vehicles on Thursday, authorities said. Robert Ebeid, 34, ran behind an 8th Street home after officers responding to a dispute just after 11 a.m. found him arguing with family members, Lt. Joseph Rella said. Fort Lee police nabbed a naked, drug-influenced man running down Route 4, authorities said. Responding to a call at the Holiday Inn, Officer Carlos Cabrera saw 51-year-old Kelton L. Mccrink-Goode of Morris Plains running in the right lane of the eastbound highway around 6 a.m. Sunday, Capt. Ricky Mirkovic said. A Rochelle Park police officer found a pickup truck driver from Franklin Lakes stopped in the middle of a dark street -- with an empty tank of gas and no headlights on -- illegally carrying a loaded handgun, authorities said. Robert Vergara, 50, had the .357-caliber revolver in his front pocket when Officer Jim Zenock found him in the truck on Rochelle Avenue "not making any attempts to summon help or get fuel" around 5 p.m. Thursday, Detective Sgt. Lyndhurst PD: Raging Drunk Driver Subdued After Brawl With Police
A drunk driver had to be subdued after he fought with Lyndhurst police while threatening to kill them and himself, authorities said. Sgt. Paul Haggerty ran a check on an occupied a Jeep parked at the far end of the Quality Inn lot on Polito Avenue late Monday and discovered that its registration was expired and the owner’s driver’s license was suspended. Cliffside Park High School went on lockdown and students and staff were moved to another location Monday morning after a father threatened to "shoot up the school," authorities said. Minivan Slams Into Paramus Tree: Driver Hospitalized, Wheelchair-Bound Passenger OK
The driver of a van that struck a tree early Monday afternoon in Paramus was hospitalized after complaining of chest pains. A wheelchair-bound passenger whom she was transporting wasn't injured after the crash in front of 796 Paramus Road. The driver was taken to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood.
