FAT Stacks: NYC Driver Says He Got $18,322 Suspect Cash From 'Guy On The Street': Fairview PD
Fairview police seized $18,322 from a Washington Heights driver who claimed to have gotten the cash from a "guy on the street" for whom he was supposed to buy a vehicle, authorities said.
The only problem: Luis A. Tavarez, 28, couldn't provide a name, phone number, receipt, text threads or any other information to corroborate his story, Capt. Michael Martic said.
Tavarez was headed south on Bergen Boulevard when Officer Sebastian Castano stopped his Mercedes SUV -- with a Pennsylvania license plate -- near the North Bergen border around 1 a.m. Tuesday, March 7.

An ex-con from New York City had a handgun, two high-capacity magazines, drugs and cash stashed in a secret compartment when an Edgewater police officer pulled his vehicle over, authorities said.
Officer Michael Colon stopped a Jeep Cherokee driven by Wilson Ortiz of the Chelsea section of Manhattan for several violations near police headquarters on River Road shortly before 2 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20.
While talking with him, Colon became suspicious and requested a Bergen County Sheriff’s K-9 unit, Detective Lt. Steven Tibus said.

Five men stopped by a Cliffside Park police officer had more than 160 checks and money orders made out to dozens of different people, along with various credit, debit and Social Security cards in other people's names, authorities said.

NJ Couple Charged With Running Five-Finger Discount Ring
A Passaic County couple ran a retail theft ring that paid thieves to shoplift specific items from a list that they provided, authorities charged.
Ali Soto, 42, and Vickiana Colon, 36, both of North Haledon, were both charged with being leaders of an organized theft operation, among other offenses.
The arrests were made on Dec. 14, 2022 but weren’t announced until Wednesday, Jan. 4, in a joint release issued by Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, West Milford Township Police Chief James Devore and North Haledon Police Chief Todd Darby.

A Pennsylvania woman is accused of hiring a hitman to try to kill her husband's ex-wife and the wife's 13-year-old daughter, authorities in New Jersey said.
