Teamwork Helps Lyndhurst Police Derail Overnight Car Burglary Spree
Lyndhurst police working together stopped an overnight car burglary spree on Thursday when they arrested a North Arlington man. Responding to a call from the 300 block of Kingsland Avenue just after midnight Nov. 16, Officer Michael Scalese found a witness who reported seeing the bandit gain entries to multiple vehicles before fleeing the area on foot, Detective Lt. A shoplifting couple from Newark might've thought they’d made a clean break before a Lyndhurst police officer spotted their getaway car, authorities said. Police were called after an employee saw the couple flee the Home Goods store on New York Avenue with several large bags, Detective Lt. Vincent Auteri said. A fugitive wanted for a pair of Jersey Shore burglaries was nabbed by a Lyndhurst police detective working another case, authorities said. Detective Chris Cuneo was on another investigation when he spotted a suspicious-looking Porsche Cayenne near a business on Orient Way and Rutherford Avenue this past Friday, Feb. 18, Detective Lt. Vincent Auteri said. Cuneo ran a random license plate check and learned of the warrants out of Middletown and Atlantic Highlands, both in Monmouth County.
