Tractor-Trailer Driver, 78, Hospitalized After Rig Rams Route 4 Guardrail
UPDATE: A 78-year-old Paterson resident was hospitalized after his tractor-trailer slammed into and onto a guardrail at the River Edge exit on eastbound Route 4 overnight, authorities said. The rig hit the metal railing on the highway's eastbound side just off Main Street shortly after 1:30 a.m. Thursday, March 30, Police Chief Michael Walker said. The driver was initially tended to by borough police and firefighters from River Edge and Hackensack. A popular pizzeria in Morris County has permanently shuttered after 25 years in business. Cafe Villa on Main Street in Chatham closed Sunday, NJ- and PA-centered restaurant group 40NORTH announced in a message sent to its email subscribers. “After over 25 years, Cafe Villa will be closing its doors at the end of service on Sunday, October 31st,” the email begins. “In this season of gratitude, we give thanks for you, our wonderful guests, and your support. Little Ferry PD: Loaded Gun, Drugs Found After Suspended Driver Makes Illegal Turn
A driver with a suspended license had a loaded gun under the seat when he was stopped for an illegal turn at a Little Ferry 7-Eleven , authorities said. Officer Joseph Convery stopped an Acura sedan driven by Dionis Nunez, 23, of Newark after he made an illegal left out of the Liberty Street convenience store’s parking lot onto Main Street, Capt. Ronald Klein said. Nunez didn’t have a driver’s license on him, so Convery had him step out of the car while he ran a computer check, Klein said. Blaze Engulfs Iconic Kosher Market, Mahwah Firefighters Assist Rockland Colleagues
Firefighters from Mahwah assisted their Rockland colleagues at the scene of a raging blaze that destroyed an iconic kosher supermarket on Thursday. Motty’s Supermarket on North Main Street in Monsey burst into flames as a Ramapo police officer who saw smoke approached shortly after 12:30 p.m., authorities said.
