Residents Displaced By Long Valley Apartment Fire
Several residents were displaced by a fire that damaged a Washington Township apartment complex earlier this week, authorities said. Firefighters responding to the Peachtree Apartments in Long Valley found smoke inside of a first-floor apartment on Thursday, March 10 around 8:10 p.m., police said. Adjacent buildings were evacuated as crews battled the blaze, which rose to a second alarm. The fire was contained to the apartment of origin. No injuries were reported. Police Officer Rescues Family As Flames Engulf Long Valley Home
A Washington Township (Morris County) police officer who spotted a house fire helped the family out moments before it was fully engulfed in flames, authorities said. Officer Marut was on routine patrol on East Mill Road when he saw smoke coming from an area near Mountain View Drive around 8 :10 a.m. Monday, Lt. Mark Niemynkski said.
