West Milford PD: Garfield Driver, 19, Whose Car Snapped Pole, Downed Wires Was DWI
A 19-year-old driver from Garfield was intoxicated when her car slammed into a utility pole, slid down an embankment and landed on its side in West Milford, authorities said.
Officers who responded to the reported crash on Westbrook Road near Snake Den Road on Aug. 5 found a snapped utility pole and downed power lines, West Milford police said in a release on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
They also found Jessica Szewczyk next to her blue 2022 Subaru WRX, which landed on its passenger side, according to the release.

Pizza Guy Charged With DWI, Reckless Driving In Fair Lawn Rollover Crash
A pizza delivery man was drunk when he rolled his SUV in Fair Lawn and had to be extricated by firefighters, authorities said.
Fair Lawn Rescue Squad members cut out the windshield to free John Keegan, 59, of Ridgewood, after the vehicle hit a parked car and landed on its side on Broadway at 30th Street Monday evening, March 21, Sgt. Brian Metzler said.
Members of the Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps checked Keegan out, found him uninjured and turn him over to police, Metzler said.
Officers arrested him after Keegan refused to submit to a roadside sobriety test, the sergeant said.

'Special K,' Ecstasy Seized In Separate Lyndhurst Stops
Lyndhurst police made separate weekend drug arrests following traffic stops in the same area.
Officer Michael Clifford stopped an older model BMW with a cracked windshield and expired inspection sticker in the area of Polito Avenue and Wall Sreet West late Friday, Detective Lt. Michael Auteri said.
The vehicle also had a temporary license plate that, it turned out, belonged to another vehicle, he said.
The driver, Marco Ribeiro, 40, of Newark was carrying Ecstasy and was unlicensed, Auteri said.
He was charged with drug possession, issued traffic summonses and released pending a hearing. …

A drunken patron was arrested after his sedan slammed into a Passaic police car and two other vehicles as left a local nightclub, authorities said.
Four pedestrians claimed they also were hit by the 2002 Toyota Camry outside the Fiesta Night Club on President Street shortly before 2:30 a.m. Sunday, Police Chief Luis Guzman said.
All four left, however, before ambulances got there or police could get any information from them, he said.

A Rockland woman was drunk when she drove the wrong way on Route 208, police in Oakland said.
Marie Heller, 61, of Nanuet had driven her 2003 Honda Pilot north in the southbound lanes shortly after 1:30 a.m. Monday, Lt. Christian Eldridge said.

Oakland Driver Charged With Assault By Auto In DWI Crash That Injured Passenger
An Oakland driver was drunk when he crashed his car into a utility pole, sending his female passenger to the hospital, authorities said.
Tyler Pratt, 29, was driving a 2019 Hyundai Elantra that slammed into the pole on Ramapo Valley Road just south of the Oakland Diner on Sunday, Lt. Christian Eldridge said.
His passenger, also 29, was taken to Chilton Medical Center in Pompton Plains with a leg injury, he said.
