Cold Hard Cuts: 7,500 Employees Let Go From North Jersey Company Parting Ways With Ice Cream
Unilever is saying goodbye to ice cream, and thousands of employees. The global consumer goods company is cutting 7,500 roles worldwide as part of its new "productivity program," the company announced Tuesday, March 19. Many say the move is a cold one, as for the first time since 1922, Unilever is leaving the ice cream business. According to a release, ice cream generated approximately $8.6 billion in 2023 for Unilever. And according to the New York Times, that's approximately 13 percent of the total revenue for the year. LabCorp Layoffs: 300+ Employees Let Go In Central Jersey,

Labcorp, one of the largest clinical labs in the world, is laying off more than 300 employees at one New Jersey location, according to recent filings. The company in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice last August announced 78 employees at Somerset's Labcorp Early Development Laboratories Inc., will be let go between Nov. 17 and Dec. 23. This month, LabCorp said an additional 239 employees will be laid off in April 2025. Thirty Professors Will Lose Their Jobs From NJ University Amid Cuts
New Jersey City University is laying off 30 tenured professors and 19 other faculty jobs as well as cutting 37 percent of its academic programs to help balance its budget, the university announced on Thursday, Dec. 15. The division of academic affairs will eliminate 48 undergraduate programs, 24 minors, 28 graduate programs, 10 certificate programs and one doctoral program, the outlet said.
