2 Hospitalized, Including Child, After Major Hackettstown Intersection Crash: Police
Two people were hospitalized, including a 14-year-old girl, during a two-vehicle crash that took down a traffic signal at a Hackettstown intersection Tuesday, May 16, authorities said. The crash occurred at the Mountain Avenue and East Avenue just before 3:55 p.m., according to Hackettstown Police. A construction accident at a defunct nuclear plant in Ocean County knocked out electricity in several towns, authorities said. A machine reportedly took down a utility pole and some power lines at Oyster Creek Nuclear Plant on Monday afternoon. The accident triggered a power outage throughout Berkeley Township, Lacey Township, Barnegat Township and Waretown, initial reports said. Rides Evacuated After Power Lost At Six Flags Great Adventure
A brief power outage prompted the evacuation of rides at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson Township on Monday, authorities said. The loss of electricity left some park-goers stuck on rides for up to 25 minutes, but no one was hurt, said Kristen Fitzgerald, a park spokeswoman. Dr. Spencer Schwartz posted this video of a halted ride on Twitter. Fire Destroys Hunterdon County Bagel Shop
Fire consumed a Hunterdon County bagel shop and deli overnight Tuesday. Firefighters responding to a 1:22 a.m. call found a fully-involved blaze, with flames shooting through the roof, at the Bagelsmith Food Store and Deli on Route 173 in Union Township, just off Route 78. An exterior operation eventually doused the blaze before all units were cleared shortly before 4:30 a.m. No injuries were reported.
