Ex-Mayor Of Warren County Town Sexually Assaulted Teen: Prosecutor
The former Mansfield Township mayor has been charged with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old child for at least two months in Morris and Warren counties, authorities said.
Ted J. Tomaszewski, 53, "engaged in multiple sex acts" with the victim in Mount Olive and Hackettstown between Nov. 1, 2022 and Jan. 2, 2023, according to a release from the Warren County Prosecutor's Office and Hackettstown police.
Tomaszewski, also a a recent candidate for Warren County commissioner, was charged with sexual assault, luring, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Centenary University First Lady Dies After Being Struck By Hackettstown Hit-And-Run Driver
Centenary University First Lady Jeanne (Picariello) Murphy died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Hackettstown, authorities confirmed.
Murphy, 70, was struck on Reese Avenue near First Avenue around 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7, police said.
She was rushed to Hackettstown Medical Center and flown to Morristown Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead around 12 p.m. Sunday.
The driver, Jefferson Chimbo-Pelaez, 25, of Hackettstown, was later located, taken into custody and was being held in the Warren County Jail, police said.

Seen him? Police have issued an alert for a missing and endangered Hackettstown man.
Thomas F. Cyphers, 68, was last seen leaving Hackettstown Medical Center heading southbound on Willow Grove Street (County Route 604) toward Main Street between 4 and 5 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, police said.
He was wearing blue jeans, brown boots, and a green and black checkered shirt.
Cyphers stands 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighs about 141 pounds, and has blue eyes and gray hair, police said.

Lifelong Budd Lake resident Sean Ainsworth died on Monday, Nov. 21 at the age of 20.
Born in Hackettstown, Sean was known for his passion for working with cars and bikes, his obituary says.
He had a heart that constantly yearned for speed and adventure and could never get enough.
