Police: Sussex County Woman, 66, Airlifted After Being Struck By Car While Crossing Route 57
A Sussex County woman was airlifted to the hospital after she was struck by a car while crossing Route 57 in Warren County Wednesday evening, police said.
Penelope Taylor, 66, was attempting to cross Route 57 E. in Washington Township when she was struck by a 41-year-old Phillipsburg man driving a 2004 Pontiac Vibe westbound shortly after 6:05 p.m., police said.
An initial investigation determined that Taylor was not using a crosswalk while crossing the road, authorities said.

A gourmet burger joint will soon open its doors at the revamped former location of a beloved Sussex County diner.
After Double S Diner in Wantage closed Oct. 13, owners Keith Yodice, 48, of Franklin and Norbey Arango, 45, of Wantage have transformed the space and are projecting a Nov. 16 opening date for their new restaurant, Cow Patty’s.

Firefighters put out a fire that broke out at a two-story Sussex County home over the weekend.
The blaze was reported at 3409 Rt. 94 in Hardyston Township just after 4 p.m. Saturday, the township volunteer fire department said on Facebook.
Crew members placed hand lines in operation after ensuring that all occupants had safely exited the home, authorities said.
The fire was placed under control about an hour later, and no injuries were reported, authorities said.

A Sussex County woman involved in an alleged drug operation as the “middleman” will avoid jail time after accepting a plea, reports say.
Stacy Sisco, 37, of Franklin, was arrested in February directly after delivering heroin to people she said were “sick.” One of them turned out to be a witness working alongside the Sussex County Narcotics TASK Force, NJHerald reports.
