An 84-year-old pilot was hospitalized for evaluation after he "aborted takeoff" in his small plane at Essex County Airport Friday, Sept. 9, authorities said. Fairfield officers found the 1970 Piper PA-39 propellered plane on the grass just off of Runway No. 4 around 11:30 a.m., local police said. The plane was occupied by the pilot and an 83-year-old woman from Dix Hills. Neither claimed to be injured as a result of the crash. Young Pilot Hospitalized After Helicopter Spun In Air, Crashed At Essex County Airport
A 33-year-old pilot was pulled from his helicopter after a crash at the Essex County Airport Saturday, June 4, police said. The pilot was taking off and heading to pick up a private charter when the a 2015 Bell Model 407 began spinning around 100 to 150 feet in the air around noon, Fairfield police said. Then, it hit the ground on the north side of the airport near Runway #28. Details Released In Easter Sunday Plane Crash At Essex County Airport
A pilot and his two passengers escaped uninjured when the plane they were flying in ran off a runway and crashed at the Essex County Airport on Easter Sunday, authorities said. The 2020 Citation CJ3 Plus was found at the end of Runway 22 in a drainage brook around 2:40 p.m., Fairfield police said. As police and EMS were arriving, the pilot and two passengers were climbing out, police said. They were identified as a 45-year-old man from Danbury, CT, a 57-year-old man from Poughkeepsie, NY and a 66-year-old man from Bernardsville, the plane's owner.
