Teaneck Councilwoman's Bid To Bounce Blogger From Town Mailing List Fails
Teaneck's township manager and police department have rejected a council member's request to remove a local blogger from their email press release lists. Keith Kaplan, a former councilman himself, has rigorously kept township residents and business owners informed for more than five years through his "Teaneck Today" blog. "Teaneck Today" also has a Facebook group with more than 8,900 members. Combined, both have been invaluable resources, reporting and providing information on elections, building in town, school calendars, roadwork, COVID developments and more in much the way a weekly news…

: Firefighters Keep Large Bergen Brush Blaze From Reaching Homes
A firefighter was treated for chest pains during a large brush fire that spread perilously close to homes near the Teaneck section of Overpeck Park. "It's raining ashes," resident Kelly Bacon Fousse said after the fire ignited in the area south of Degraw Avenue between Route 95 and Teaneck Road around 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 11. Dry, windy conditions spread the five-alarmer, which brought more than a dozen other area departments to Teaneck to assist, Township Manager Dean Kazinci told Daily Voice. One firefighter was taken to Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck, he said. Although what was …

Exposure To Coronavirus-Positive Holy Name Hospital CEO Forces Tedesco To Self-Quarantine
Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco self-quarantined on Tuesday, nine days after hosting a news conference in Teaneck with, among others, Holy Name Medical Center CEO Michael Maron, who tested positive for COVID-19. That means a number of people who also attended the March 15 event -- among them, elected and appointed officials, their staff members and reporters -- may need to do so, too. A spokesman for Tedesco said the county health officer recommended that he self-quarantine after attending an undisclosed press conference with someone "identified as COVID-19 positive." Sources con…

Teaneck Goes On Virtual Coronavirus Lockdown, All Of Bergen Could Soon Be Next, Tedesco Warns
UPDATE: County Executive Jim Tedesco warned that all of Bergen could soon go on virtual lockdown in response to the coronavirus the way Teaneck did on Sunday. Gov. Phil Murphy ordered all New Jersey schools closed by Wednesday. Teaneck’s township manager on Sunday ordered a host of businesses in town either closed or restricted to the number of people they can serve until further notice, as the township becomes what its mayor called “ground zero” for COVID-19 in New Jersey. Immediately afterward, Tedesco urged the 1 million or so residents throughout Bergen County to pay close attenti…
