Four-Alarm Fire Crashes Wedding At Popular Bergen County Venue, No Injuries Reported
A wedding was underway when a boiler fire broke out at a popular Bergen County event venue early Thursday night, authorities said. The four-alarm fire extended to the second floor of The Rockleigh on Paris Avenue after igniting in the boiler room shortly before 6 p.m., Northvale Police Chief Howard Ostrow said. Firefighters had it under control in under 40 minutes, the chief said. : Tree Worker Recovered By Firefighters In Closter Pronounced Dead At Scene
UPDATE: Authorities were trying to determine how long a tree worker who died on the job in Closter had been suspended in the air. The worker was tethered in a harness nearly 40 feet up, supported by climbing ropes attached to several parts of the tree, when he apparently suffered a medical emergency outside a home on Anderson Avenue on Saturday, Police Lt. Vincent Aiello said. The homeowner, who'd dialed 911 around noon, didn't know how long he'd been up there, Aiello said. Fire At Closter Waste Management Company Sends Employee To Hospital
A pre-dawn fire at a waste management facility in Closter sent an employee to the hospital for observation, responders said. The fire broke out in the Interstate Waste Services transfer station garbage bays on Railroad Avenue shortly after 4 a.m. Thursday, Detective Lt. Vincent Aiello said. Two employees tried to extinguish the blaze with a fire hose before firefighters took over, he said.
