Garfield Garage Blaze Doused
Garfield firefighters doused a Sunday morning garage blaze. It was going pretty good when they got to the March 10 fire, but they contained it to the one-story two-car garage behind a Market Street home. No injuries were reported. Mutual aid at the scene and in coverage was provided by fellow firefighters from Saddle Brook, Clifton, Elmwood Park, Lodi, Maywood, Passaic and Rochelle Park. Haledon PD Charges Wanted Passaic Man With Stabbing, Choking Woman
A manhunt ended with the capture of a Passaic resident wanted for stabbing and choking a woman in a Haledon domestic assault and a subsequent order by a judge to release him. The victim was taken to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center with a serious stab wound in her foot, as well as choke marks, after police responding to a call found her, authorities said. A transient ex-con was charged with domestic violence after authorities said he pinned a Hackensack woman to the floor by her hair and threatened her with a knife before dawn Monday. A lone gunman committed back-to-back-to-back armed gas station robberies less than 10 miles apart in Bergen and Passaic counties Monday afternoon, authorities said. The attendant was pistol-whipped at a Valero on northbound Route 17 just before Route 46 in Hasbrouck Heights shortly before 3 p.m. Feb. 5, responders said.
