Smash-And-Grab Burglars Flee Fairview Deli With Cash, Lottery Tickets, Registers
A burglary crew smashed their way into a Fairview deli overnight before making off with two cash registers, $800 in cash and lottery tickets, police said.
Three bandits threw a stone through the glass to enter Panela's Deli on Walker Street just off 6th Avenue shortly before 3:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, Capt. Michael Martic said.
They fled in a Honda Civic (photo above), driven by a fourth member, that headed east on Walker Street and then north on Anderson Avenue, the captain said.
One of the burglars apparently had dreadlocks, Martic said.

A repeat-offending ex-con who tried to become something of a jailhouse lawyer was caught in the act of burglarizing vehicles in Wayne after a woman he was with spilled the beans, authorities said.
Responding to multiple calls, Sgt. Mark CIavirella found a 2014 Chevy Traverse occupied by Melissa Ashmead, 42, of North Brunswick, in the area of New Street where the complaints originated, Capt. Dan Daly said.
Why and how she ended up there didn't jibe, the captain said.

Paramus PD: Car Burglary Couple Swiped $50K In Jewelry, $28,000 In Cash In Only One Day
An out-of-state couple who targeted parked cars in and around Paramus stole a whopping $28,000 in cash, $50,000 worth of jewelry and $3,000 worth of clothing in one day, authorities said.
Area police were on alert after the enormous haul the day before when Paramus Officer Justin Sicari spotted a blue Nissan Rogue with Florida plates parked at the Garden State Plaza around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, Police Chief Robert Guidetti said.
Sicari and Officer Nicholas Perna watched and waited, and eventually saw the couple enter the Rogue and drive off, the chief said.
