Authorities thwarted an early morning burglary at a Morris County power sports store on Friday, Sept. 8, resulting in a slew of charges for nine and preventing nearly half a million dollars in losses. Roxbury Police responded to an unwanted persons report at Ledgewood Power Sports on Rt. 46 east in Ledgewood just after 4:10 a.m., the department said. Officers found nine people in a fenced-in area containing ATVs and UTVs. Two men were moments away from stealing a vehicle when a Lehigh Valley homeowner caught them in the act and scared them off, police say. Officers responded to the attempted theft report on the 1800 block of Mark Twain Circle in Bethlehem around 2 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, Colonial Regional Police said. Upon arrival, officers were told that the homeowner confronted two men attempting to steal a vehicle when they ran away. Two New York City men who were caught stealing $300,000 worth of checks overnight from mailboxes in Upper Saddle River tossed some of them out the window while being pursued by police, authorities said. Car Nearly Stolen From Morris County Driveway Before Suspect Flees In Audi, Police Say
A suspect fled in an Audi after trying and failing to steal a car from a driveway in Morris County Wednesday evening, authorities said. The suspect attempted to steal the vehicle from a driveway on Robert Drive in Chatham Township around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, local police said. The attempt was unsuccessful, and the suspect fled in a white Audi, authorities said. “Please remember to always lock your vehicle and remove all valuables and Key FOBS,” said Chatham Township police. Police in Hunterdon County are searching for clues after four suspects were caught on surveillance footage attempting to steal an ATM from the drive-thru lane of a Chase Bank using a stolen pickup truck early Monday morning. Officers responding to the attempted theft at Chase Bank at 318 Rt. 31 in Flemington found an unoccupied pickup truck next to the machine in the drive-thru lane shortly before 2:30 a.m., Raritan Township police said. Authorities are seeking information related to an attempted vehicle theft from a driveway in Mansfield Township over the weekend.
