Authorities ID Cabbie, Fare Killed In Elizabeth Police Chase Crash
Authorities officially identified a cab driver and passenger who were both killed when a sedan driven by a suspect fleeing police crashed head-on into the taxi at an Elizabeth intersection. Juan Carlos Albear, 54, who was behind the wheel, and Ysabell Gonzalez, 63, were killed in the violent collision at Grand Street and Routes 1&9 shortly before 6 a.m. last Dec 10. A Plainfield man has been arrested in the shooting death of a delivery driver subcontracted by Amazon Wednesday, authorities in Union County announced Friday. Quahif Lane, 26, is accused of shooting 36-year-old Jamar S. Harris, of Newark, dead while working Wednesday in Plainfield, according to Union County Prosecutor William A. Prosecutor: Woman Killed, Man Critically Injured In Union County Double-Shooting
A woman was killed and a man critically injured in a double-shooting in Union County earlier this week, authorities said. Johanna Cordova-Salazar, 29, of Plainfield was fatally shot near Lee Place and South Second Street around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, acting Union County Prosecutor Lyndsay V. Ruotolo said in a joint release with Plainfield Police Director Lisa Burgess. A male victim, meanwhile, was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for emergency treatment.
