Victim ID'd In Fatal Sparta House Fire: Police
A 78-year-old man was killed in a house fire in Sparta on the morning of Thursday, Oct. 10, authorities said. Wayne Pait, who lived at the home, was identified as the victim, Sparta police said. First responders arrived at 132 Sawmill Road at 8:24 a.m. and found smoke billowing from the residence, Sparta police said. Upon arrival, they were informed a resident was still inside the home but officers were blocked from entering the home due to heavy smoke and fire, police said. : Dogs Die In New Milford House Fire
Two dogs were killed in a New Milford house fire early Tuesday night, authorities said. The residents weren't home when the blaze broke out in the kitchen at the back of the Voorhis Avenue home and quickly spread shortly after 7 p.m., New Milford Police Chief Brian Clancy said. Borough firefighters were immediately joined by their colleagues from Oradell and River Edge, with New Milford Fire Chief Gerry Smithson operating as the scene commander, the chief said. Authorities on Monday identified a resident killed in a weekend apartment fire at a senior living community in Ridgewood. The body of Denise Dillon, 72, was found after firefighters doused the flames in her unit at the Ridgecrest Senior Housing development on Ridge Road shortly after 7:30 p.m., Police Chief Jacqueline Luthcke said. "At this time, it appears that the fire started accidentally," Lutchcke said. Support Surges For Grieving Dad Following Reading House Fire
Support is surging for a Reading family who lost three of its own along with their belongings in a blaze earlier this week. More than $11,500 had been raised as of Saturday on a GoFundMe for Aaron "Ace" Torres, mourning the loss of his partner, Catherine Torres, and two of their kids.
