Newark Man Identified In Deadly Shooting At NJ Transit Station
Authorities have identified a Newark man who was shot and killed at the New Jersey Transit station in Long Branch. James Hailey, 43, was killed in the shooting, a Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office spokesperson said on Thursday, Aug. 29. Long Branch police responded to the train station's platform at around 7:39 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 26. Officers found Hailey and he was rushed to a nearby hospital. Sundown Swimmers At Unguarded NJ Beach Rescued
Three swimmers were rescued while in the water after sunset in Ocean Grove, officials said. Rescuers were called to a swimmer in distress near the pier at the Main Avenue beach at around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28, the ANSWER team said in a Facebook post. The report was quickly upgraded to three swimmers in distress. When emergency crews arrived, they saw the three swimmers screaming for help. A 4-year-old child drowned in a pond behind a home in Middlesex County on Wednesday, Aug. 27, authorities said. Police were called to a Monroe Township home around 6:50 p.m. for a missing child, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Monroe Township Police Chief Griffin M. Banos said.
