A six-year-old Central New York boy was visiting his family in Ewing when he died in a massive apartment fire that injured 17 people and left at least 16 without homes, authorities said. Jayden Gotell-Watkins of Baldwinsville, NY, was identified as the victim killed in the Cambridge Hall fire, the Ewing Police Department said in a news release. Seventeen other victims were hospitalized in the blaze on Thursday, Jan. 2. A 33-year-old Bound Brook woman was arrested and charged after she used counterfeit cash at an ice cream shop in Raritan on Tuesday, Dec, 18. authorities said. Maria Orellana-Galvez paid for $72 worth of ice cream at As You Like It Ice Cream on West Somerset Street with two fraudulent $100 bills, Raritan Borough police said. Orellana-Galvez was charged on Wednesday, Jan. 1 with forgery and theft by deception, police said.

A 15-year-old boy was killed and three others were injured in a New Year's morning crash on Route 130, authorities said.
