Al Harrington, an Orange, NJ native who played for the Indiana Pacers, New York Knicks, and more, has brought Viola to Hoboken.

Viola's website says it's the largest Black-owned cannabis brand and is named after Harrington’s grandmother, who suffered from glaucoma until he convinced her to try cannabis.

"After seeing the flower’s ability to relieve her pain, Al was inspired to start a company that would bring the same aid to others," the Viola website reads.

Viola has locations in Arizona, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Michigan, California, and more.

Harrington has long been an advocate for the legalization of cannabis, beginning back in 2016 in California.

In 2018, he wrote "9 Reasons to End the War on Marijuana" in The Players Tribute. In 2021, he spoke with U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer about ending the federal prohibition on marijuana and advancing criminal justice reform.
