Officials ID Man, 39, Killed By Train In Monmouth County
Officials have identified the man struck and killed by an NJ Transit train on Saturday, Sept. 13 in Monmouth County. Anthony DePalma, 39, of Atlantic Highlands, was struck at the Monmouth Street crossing in Red Bank and involved North Jersey Coast Line train 7240, according to an NJ Transit spokesperson. The train left New York Penn Station at 12:07 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Long Branch at 1:38 p.m. The crash happened just after 1:30 p.m., Chartier said. A beach in Cape May was shut down after a man was found dead, authorities said. Cape May police found the roughly 50-year-old man's body early in the morning on Monday, Aug. 26, Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland said in a news release. A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed in Mount Laurel, authorities said. A vehicle heading south on Route 73 hit the pedestrian between Clover Road and Rogers Walk at around 11:10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, Mount Laurel police said. The pedestrian wasn't identified as of Monday, Aug. 19. Investigators said the pedestrian didn't cross the road in a crosswalk. No other injuries were reported in the crash.
