Ocean County Landlords Among 25 Facing Fines For Considering Tenants' Criminal Histories
Twenty-five landlords are facing fines after state officials said they violated state laws by considering potential tenants' criminal histories. According to NJ Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin and the Division on Civil Rights (DCR), the notices of violation allege that the housing providers violated the law by, among other things, asking criminal history-related questions on housing applications that are prohibited by the law. Two West Nile Virus-Related Deaths Among Six New Cases Reported In New Jersey
New Jersey health officials are reporting an additional six cases of West Nile Virus including two deaths, and two presumptive viremic blood donor (PVD) cases in the state. The six new WNV cases are residents of Bergen, Camden, Cumberland, Hudson, Mercer, and Middlesex counties (one 50+, two 60+, one 70+, two 80+). A 25-year-old motorcyclist killed in a crash on Interstate 76 Friday night, Aug. 16 was a brand-new dad, loved ones say. A Chevrolet SUV was making a lane change in front of Ryan Gaskill, of Pennsauken, who was heading south on the interstate at milepost 1.1 in Gloucester around 9:40 p.m., New Jersey State Police Sgt. An Elmer father who owned a concrete masonry business and coached youth baseball died after crashing his motorcycle on a rural road, authorities said. Peter Pino, 37, was killed in the crash in Quinton Township, a state police spokesperson said on Thursday, Aug. 15. The crash happened at around 10:01 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10. A Camden County man was accused of injuring a pedestrian in a hit-and-run crash in Cape May, authorities said. Brandon Rollans, 25, of Blackwood, was arrested on Wednesday, July 31, the Cape May Police Department said in a news release. Cape May County leaders are issuing a warning after eight mosquito groups tested positive for West Nile virus and eastern equine encephalitis. Seven mosquito collections tested positive for West Nile and EEE was detected in another during June and July, the Cape May County Department of Health said in a news release on Monday, July 22. An elderly man was found at an Atlantic County golf course overnight after he went missing for several hours in severe weather, authorities said. In a news release, Egg Harbor Township police said 85-year-old Mu Lee was reunited with his family at around 12:20 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17.
