Two Jersey Shore Women Stole $12K+ From Person's Bank Account, Police Say
Two Wall Township women were accused of stealing more than $10,000 from someone's bank account, authorities said. Lisa Sperry, 60, and Jordan Gruber, 34, were arrested on Friday, Oct. 11, the Wall Township Police Department said in a news release on Tuesday, Oct. 15. Investigators said the women took more than $12,000 from another resident's account through several fraudulent withdrawals. Sperry was charged with 13 counts of theft by unlawful taking. Freak Accident Kills Boy, 12, Playing In NJ Backyard: Police
A New Jersey boy was killed when a tree fell on him in a backyard, authorities said. Lucas Schwartz, 12, was identified as the victim of the Eldridge Avenue incident in Lawrence Township on a GoFundMe page. Police said he'd been playing with a friend in the backyard of a home when gusty winds blew the tree over, and it fell onto him around 12:09 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14. Thief Breaks Into Rutgers Dorm Rooms To Steal From Sleeping Students, Police Say
Rutgers University police were investigating two attempted burglaries in a dorm on the New Brunswick campus, authorities said. The burglary attempts happened inside Clothier Residence Hall between 4 and 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, campus police said in a Facebook post. A train operator was killed and multiple others hurt after a tree fell on an NJ Transit train Monday morning, Oct. 14 in Burlington County. The incident happened around 6 a.m. on the River LINE train, which had been heading north from Trenton when it struck a tree south of the Roebling Station in Mansfield Township, an NJ Transit spokesperson said. A 30-acre forest fire has been contained, however, smoke could linger across parts of South Jersey for days, fire officials said. A man and woman were found shot to death in a Prince William County basement, and a possible suspect connected to the double homicide has been apprehended in New Jersey, police say.
