Two Injured In Route 521 Crash:

Two people were injured in a two-car crash on Route 521 South in Sussex County on Friday, Oct. 25, authorities said. At 7:53 a.m., two passenger vehicles collided in a head-on crash on County Road 521 South in Montague Township, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. A third vehicle struck debris from the prior collision, Lebron said. The two drivers involved in the head-on collision sustained non-life-threatening injuries, Lebron said. The crash remains under investigation, Lebron said.

Hundreds of people gathered at Skylands Ballpark for the funeral of Fethullah Gulen, a prominent Turkish Muslim cleric, who inspired a movement in his native country, on Thursday, Oct. 24. The funeral in Frankford Township caused delays in the area, with Sussex County Sheriff Michael Strada asking drivers to avoid the intersections of Route 15, 206, 565 and the surrounding area during the funeral. Sussex County Man Airlifted After ATV Crash:

A 21-year-old Sussex County man had to be airlifted to a hospital after an ATV crash on the evening of Saturday, Oct. 19, authorities said. At 10:57 p.m., police responded to a property on East Shore Culver Road in Frankford Township after a Honda Fortrax ATV entered the roadway, lost directional control and the driver fell from the vehicle, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. The driver, a Branchville resident, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital, LeBron said. The crash remains under investigation, Lebron said.

Antique Car Damaged in Sussex County Crash: Firefighters
An antique car suffered some scrapes in a car crash on Sunday, Oct. 13 in Sussex County. At 4:41 p.m., the Frankford Township Fire Department was dispatched to Route 206 and Broad Street for a car crash with injuries, firefighters said. Three people were evaluated for injuries and first responders dealt with a fuel spill from one of the vehicles, firefighters said. The injured people declined additional medical attention, firefighters said. “We were sad to see such a beautiful antique get damaged, but glad everyone was okay,” the Frankford Township Fire Department said.

Motorcyclist, 39, Killed In Sussex County Crash
A 39-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a Sussex County crash over the weekend. Frank Jimeno, of West New York, was heading north on Route 23 on a KTM motorcycle when he veered off the side of the roadway to the right and struck a guardrail in Montague Township at milepost 50 Sunday, Oct. 6 around 10:30 a.m., New Jersey State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said. Jimeno died as a result of the crash, which remains under investigation.

Rhonda Iwanski, a longtime Sussex County resident who was heavily involved in multiple communities, died on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at Newton Medical Center after a long illness, her obituary on the Wood Funeral Home website says. She was 67 years old. Rhonda, of Sandyston, moved to New Jersey from Florida after meeting her husband, Mark, 28 years ago, her obituary says. Teen Football Player Airlifted After Losing Feeling In Legs In Sussex County, Police Say
A 13-year-old boy was airlifted to the hospital after he was injured playing football on the evening of Saturday, Sept. 21, in Sussex County authorities said. At 8:11 p.m., the boy was playing football at Station Park in Sparta Township when he temporarily lost feeling in his legs, Sparta Township Police Captain Thomas Snyder said. An Atlantic Air helicopter transported the boy to Morristown Medical Center, Snyder said. The young athlete regained feeling in both legs before the helicopter arrived, but was still hospitalized for for further evaluation, Snyder said.

A 56-year-old Parsippany man was killed after his motorcycle collided with a Mercedes Benz on County Route 650 in Sussex County on the morning of Sunday, Sept. 8, authorities said. At 10:20 a.m., Sung Yi was driving a Kawasaki motorcycle eastbound when it crashed into a Mercedes Benz at the intersection of County Route 650 and County Route 675 in Montague Township, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. A 23-year-old Morris County man died in a two-motorcycle crash in Passaic County last month, police said. Sean McClinton, of Riverdale, was heading north on a 2022 Triumph STR north on East Shore Road when he ran off the road to the right and struck the guardrail, causing him to separate from the motorcycle around 6:15 p.m. on Aug. 31, a spokesperson for the West Milford Police Department said. Two Injured In Motorcycle-Minivan Crash On Route 206:

Two people were injured after a motorcycle struck a minivan on Route 206 in Sussex County on the evening of Monday, Sept. 2, authorities said. At 6:29 p.m., a Chrysler minivan was stopped in traffic, waiting to turn left on Route 206 north in Sandyston Township when it was struck in the back by a motorcycle, Charles Marcha, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. The driver of the motorcycle and driver of the minivan were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, Marchan said. The crash remains under investigation, Marchan said.
