Driver Airlifted After Vehicle Mangled In Car Crash: Sparta FD A driver was airlifted to a hospital after a car crash in Sparta on Sunday, Jan. 12, authorities said. Firefighters responded to a single car crash on Main Street near West Mountain Road, the Sparta Fire Department said.  The driver was extricated from the vehicle and airlifted to a nearby hospital, where he is in serious, but stable condition, firefighters said.

At 11:44 p.m., officers responded to Route 31 and Walter Foran Blvd. and found a white Subaru on fire and with heavy front-end damage, Raritan Township Police said. Officers were able to swiftly extinguish the fire, but the driver, a 45-year-old Flemington man sustained traumatic head injuries and was entrapped inside the vehicle, police said. At 10:58 p.m., a Volkswagen passenger vehicle veered off the roadway and stuck a tree on Hockenbury Drive in Glen Gardner Borough, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital, Lebron said. The crash remains under investigation, Lebron said.
