Firefighters were called to the 1400 block of Rustic Drive in Middlebrook, for a report of a fire inside one of the building’s apartments around 2:15 p.m., a spokesperson for the county prosecutor's office said. Avon-by-the-Sea police responded to a report of several swimmers in distress at the Washington Avenue beach at around 6:34 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22, the department said in a news release.
