A plane crashed at the Essex County Airport this weekend after its landing gear malfunctioned and failed to deploy, authorities said. A small plane crashed in Sussex County on Tuesday night, Aug. 27, authorities said. According to the FAA, a single-engine Champion Citabria crashed in Sussex around 7 p.m. New Jersey State Police said the plane crashed into a tree line on Main Street due to a fuel issue.
