SantaCon Shenanigans: 8 Arrested In Hoboken As Police Handle Fights, Crashes, Chaos
Some people attending SantaCon 2024 in Hoboken, including several from out of state, couldn't help but end up on the naughty list.
Hoboken police said eight people were arrested at the annual event on Saturday, Dec. 21, where people dress up as Santa Claus for a bar crawl, a spinoff of the popular event held every year in New York City (scroll down for details).
Overall, police issued 16 traffic summonses, dealt with 13 fights, and responded to three motor vehicle crashes, police said. Last year saw only two arrests.

Paterson Burglar Apprehended In Wallington: Police
A 57-year-old Paterson resident who broke into a home in Wallington was arrested and charged on Thursday, Sept. 26, police said.
The first burglary occurred on Main Ave. on Thursday, Sept. 19, when the suspect, later identified as Leon Roberts, forcibly kicked in the front door of the home, Wallington police said in a release. While the homeowner did not report anything missing, the damage to the front door was $500, police said.

NY Man Fakes Slashing To Burglarize Route 17 Bank, Police Say
A 32-year-old New York man is facing charges in Paramus, NJ for pretending he was held at knifepoint in one location when, in fact, he was burglarizing another, police said.
Officers were called to the Dunkin parking lot at 492 Route 17 North on Sunday, Sept. 1 where Jonathan Gardner, of Canastota, NY, had told authorities he was being held at knifepoint and suffered a slash to his arm while defending himself from an attacker, Paramus Police Chief Robert Guidetti said.

Franklin Man Fired Gunshots Onto Neighbor's Property: Police
A 52-year-old Franklin man was arrested on Saturday, July 27, after he fired gunshots that damaged his neighbor's property, authorities said.
Officers arrived on Corkhill Road and determined Kevin Kaye was intoxicated when he was handling the rifle, causing damage to his neighbor's fence, above-ground pool, children's clubhouse and garage, Franklin Borough police said.

A 29-year-old Jersey City man was arrested after stabbing a 28-year-old victim on a parking deck at the American Dream Mall late Saturday, July 6, authorities said.
New Jersey State Police troopers responded to the parking deck at the mall where they found the male victim suffering slashes all over his body just before 11 p.m., Sgt. Charles Marchan said.

Two people were arrested at a home in Sparta following a dispute where a knife was brandished on Saturday, June 15, police said.
At 2:41 p.m., officers responded to a dispute on Sagamore Trail between Alex Fudali, a 25-year-old who lived at the home, and Devon Webb, a 24-year-old Kenilworth resident, who was an "unwanted guest," Sparta police said in a release.
Webb was there to confront Fudali's friend about texting Webb's sister, police said. During the confrontation, Webb brandished a knife and made a threat, police said.

Irish Traveler Posing As Repairman Tears Hole In Glen Rock Resident's Roof: Police
A con man contractor was charged by Glen Rock police after he and an accomplice ripped a hole in a resident’s roof, authorities said.
Jimmy Jones, 42, and his partner knocked on the victim’s door, unsolicited, claiming to be contractors who could tend to what appeared to be necessary roof repairs, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said.
The victim reviewed a handout, agreed to an estimate and then went inside, the chief said.

Joseph Domenico Varano, 21, of Bloomfield and his cohorts hit the parking lot of the campus off Chestnut Ridge Road near the Garden State Parkway on May 4, Woodcliff Lake Police Chief Stephen Regula said.
