NJ Man Posing As Walmart Worker Scams NY Woman, 69, Out Of $20K: Police A phone call claiming to protect a Long Island resident's savings ended in a $20,000 scam carried out by a 51-year-old New Jersey man, according to authorities. The victim, a 69-year-old New Hyde Park woman, received the call from Tejas Kapur, of Carteret, who falsely identified himself as a Walmart employee, according to Nassau County Police. Kapur told the victim that there was fraudulent activity on her account and that her Social Security number was compromised, authorities said. Ohio-based Wiers Farm began its investigation in response to the Michigan Department of Agriculture's original findings, which led to the expansion.  Products in the expanded recall were packed between Friday, July through Friday, July 12. Bomb Threat By Employee's Ex Clears Teterboro Walmart A threatening comment from the ex-husband of a store associate cleared the Teterboro Walmart on Tuesday, authorities said. The man had called the Teterboro Landing Walmart shortly before noon June 11, Moonachie Police Lt. Jeff Napolitano said. "When he was told that the associate was not available, he became agitated and [said] that he would blow up the store," the lieutenant said. Walmart Cutting Hundreds Of Positions From North Jersey Office Layoffs are ahead for more than 200 of Walmart's North Jersey employees. A New Jersey WARN notice says the company will begin the cuts to 237 positions at its corporate office in Hoboken on Aug. 14, with more to come on Nov. 1, and Jan. 31, 2025. According to the Wall Street Journal, employees may work remotely but are being asked to spend the majority of their times in the offices.  Employees in other U.S. cities are also facing layoffs, and are being asked to relocate to central hubs, the outlet said.
